Early Completion Bonus program ceases
In 2007, the Queensland Government launched the $1000 Early Completion Bonus program for apprentices in targeted skills shortage occupations who completed their apprenticeship earlier then their nominal completion date.
However, this program has now come to an end and ceased as at 30 June 2009.
Apprentices who meet the below eligibility requirements AND have an early completion date on or before 30 June 2009 may be eligible to receive the bonus. However, apprentices with completion dates later than 30 June 2009 (irrespective of complying with the other eligibility requirements) will no longer be eligible for the bonus.
To be eligible for the bonus, apprentices must meet the following criteria:
-
Apprentice has completed an apprenticeship which appears on the Queensland Early Completion Bonus Eligible Skills Shortage Occupation List [PDF 76kb]
-
Full time apprentices must complete at least 182 days prior to their original nominal completion date while part time apprentices must complete at least 365 days prior to their original nominal completion date.
-
Apprentice's early completion date must be between 1 January 2007 and 30 June 2009 (inclusive of these dates).
-
Apprentice's Early Completion Bonus form must be received by the department on or before the apprentice's original nominal completion date. E.g: a full time apprentice in Panel Beating (AUR31699) has an original nominal completion date of 15 March 2010 however, the apprentice completes early on 30 June 2009. This apprentice is eligible for the early completion bonus as long as the department receives the application form on or before 15 March 2010.
The Early Completion Bonus has proved successful in terms of increasing apprenticeship completion rates and therefore placing more trained people in skills shortage occupations within the workforce.
